7V7-1 is a high intensity small sided game that focuses on your forwards’ ability to operate in an offside position encouraging his/her teammates to play forward and break lines quickly. From a defensive standpoint, it will help your players learn how to defend in an overload situation. Enjoy!

Setup:

7V7-1 to goals. The red team is in possession of the ball so one of the yellow defenders has stepped off the field of play. When the yellow team wins possession and attacks, one of the red defenders must do the same. The yellow defender can now join the build up out of the back.

Instructions:

One player can advance one zone creating a numerical advantage.

Coaching Points:

• Attacking: Eliminate as many of the opponents as possible with one soccer action. Often times it will include combining with the center forward.
• Defending: Learning how to deal with a center forward that likes to operate in the space behind the last defender often times off their shoulder and in an offside position.
