Emphasis:
Passing, receiving, striking balls over distance
Set-up:
Make two 15×15 yard grids 25 yards apart. Position two players in each grid with extra balls on the side. Repeat setup to accommodate the entire team.
Objective:
The play begins with one team driving the ball in the air to the other grid. The receiving team must control the ball with two touches, and strike the ball back to the other team. A point is won if the opposing team fails to control the serve inside their own box, or if the serve does not land inside the grid. The first team to 11 points wins the game.
Progression:
- Must alternate servers.
- Cannot let the ball stop moving (must strike a moving ball).
- Lengthen the space between the grids or decrease the size of the target grids.
Coaching Points:
- Use your laces to drive the ball.
- Play the way you face.
