Skills to be used: body feints, Cruyff turn, scissors, double scissors, Stanley Matthews, roll step move.

Coaching Points:

Instructions:

The target for the attacking player is to beat the defender and dribble through either of the gates. After scoring, the player passes the ball to the next player in line; then the attacker becomes the next defender, while the defender moves to the opposite side. If a defender wins the ball, they can dribble the ball through the gates for the next player.

Progression:

Keep points- player with most points at the end wins.  Progress to 2 v 2.

2×6 min.

Coaching Points:

  • Change of speed and direction- use smaller, quicker touches when changing direction/ using a move to beat the defender (explode)
  • Use more touches while dribbling to get the defender off balance and make it easier to change direction with the ball
  • Be creative but effective- find 2-3 moves you can do effectively, under pressure to beat the opponent

3.

Setup:

Same set up as before. 12-16 players in each grid (6-8 each line). 3 mins x 4 sets.
