Shadow Warm-up

Emphasis:
Mobility, agility, reaction time

Set-up:
Make a 10 x 10 yard grid and place a pair (s) of goalkeepers in the grid.
No balls are necessary.

Objective:
One goalkeeper moves around the grid and the other goalkeeper mimics their every move.  Use all movements; forward, backwards, side shuffle, carioca, side shuffle backwards… Work for 1 minute.

Progressions:

  1. Add low dives and collapse dives without the ball.
  2. Increase the time to 2 minutes.

Coaching Points:

  • Remain on the balls of your feet.
  • Keep the upper body relaxed and go hard with the legs.
